FTP Wizard Keeps Appearing
If FrontPage does not detect the extensions on our
server (this usually happens when a customer forgets to connect to the internet
before publishing, or they have a Site locked
situation) it will automatically attempt to use FTP (File Transfer Protocol).
Once FrontPage uses FTP to publish, it will
always use FTP until you tell it not to.
To recover from this situation:
- You must remove the "Publish FrontPage Web
to:" entry
from the "Publish" dialog.
From the "File" menu select "Publish FrontPage Web...". The
"Publish" dialog opens.
- Right mouse click over the "corrupted" entry (i.e. the
last entry you tried to publish to that is now using FTP). A "pop-up" menu appears
as in the following
image:
- Select "Remove From List"
- Close your web and FrontPage.
- Make certain you are connected to the internet!
- Reload FrontPage and re-open your web. Publish your site as if it
were for the first time. The FTP Wizard should not appear.
Before viewing your page, make sure you have cleared the cache
of your browser. In Internet Explorer, make sure the cache setting is on "Check
for newer versions of stored pages:" at "Every visit to
page".
