Ellen Mary Montague, the fourth child (and only daughter) of Monty and Mary Montague was born in 1952 in Syracuse. She attended St Ann's Elementary School, and graduated from Corcoran High School in 1970. Ellen attended Cazenovia College, receiving her Associates Degree in early education in 1972. She transferred to Syracuse University School of Human Development, receiving her B.S. in 1974. She taught a year at Fairmount Elementary School, then worked two years for Murbro Parking, Inc.
Ellen married her brother Jim's best friend, Don Murphy, in 1973. Don was the son of Syracuse businessman Donald V. Murphy, Jr. Known by many as DVM-III, Don was a 1966 high school graduate of Christian Brothers Academy, and a 1970 graduate of Niagara University, where he majored in accounting. Don worked a year for Price-Waterhouse, then bought a ten-wheel dump-truck and formed the Purple Eagle Trucking Company, Inc.; he always claimed to be the President of a Big company because he owned one Big truck. At this time, Don and Jim Montague were room-mates at High-Acres, living the high-life on stale donuts, cold pizza, warm beer, and maxed-out credit cards. Ellen the Fiancée stepped in, took charge, and brought some much-needed order. After the wedding, Don continued in the trucking business, but then began working for New England Life in 1974. Don sold the truck in 1978 and concentrated on his insurance business. He became a New England Life Supervisor in 1980.

Sadly, Don became ill in 1984, and died from cancer in 1985. Ellen was left with five young children (Carrie, the twins Kevin and Chris, Sean, and 3-month-old Conor). She returned to part-time employment in 1990 as a teacher's aide at St. Ann's Elementary School. She became a full-time computer-data coordinator for St Ann's in 1993. Ellen returned to school for post-graduate coursework, and became a Syracuse Diocesan Parish Business Administrator in 1998; she serves in that capacity today at St. Ann's Parish.

ELLEN & THE FLURPHYS
Ellen met Bob Flynn in 1994. He was actually an old family friend of the Jordans from the early 1960's (Holly Jordan Dorsch and Ellen have been life-long, best friends). Bob was a 1967 graduate of Nottingham High School, and a 1971 graduate of the University of Rochester. He had been a pharmaceutical representative for Bristol Labs in Syracuse during the 1970's and 80's. Bob's wife, Cheryl Kronlund Flynn, died from cancer in 1993, leaving him with three young children (Brice, Evan, and Moira).
Clearly, Ellen and Bob had much in common, and it was, as they always say, love at first sight. They married in 1995. Today Bob is a mortgage loan officer for Wells Fargo, Inc., in North Syracuse (rumor has it he occasionally moonlights, riding shotgun on the Wells Fargo stagecoach into Apulia Station outside Fabius). Since 1968 Bob has been a member of the Syracuse Scottish Pipe Band.
The Flurphys still reside in Syracuse. Carrie Murphy, like her Dad long ago, graduated from Niagara University (1999, in nursing), then married Dan Rewakowski in June 2000.

And, now they are three. Brendan James Rewakowski was born at Crouse Hospital on March 21, 2001. This is a picture of Brendan at two and a half months talking to his grandmother, Ellen.
Chris is entering his junior year at Canisius College, while Kevin travels with the Pfish. Sean will graduate next year from Westhill High School. Conor also attends Westhill, as do the youngest Flurphys: Brice, Evan, and Moira.
