The love of my life for the past 2 years is from Taiwan, I am from Europe but living in America. We met in an international student co-op. Both of us have been really busy doing PhDs, and have always considered marriage for the future. Well, to make a long story short, she has now asked for lots of space and time and told me that her family is strongly against me in marriage. Her family has always seemed to like me until this time. since this time I have discovered how much resentment there is against caucasian men with asian women (especially on the Web). So now we are apart while she is thinking about all the pressures and her life. and I can only wait and hope that we can be accepted together sometime and somewhere. Does anyone have any experience with this? Can I approach her family? Is it disrespectful to contact them at this time to show my Love for them? Any suggested books to learn more about modern parental/daughter-son in law relations in taiwan? -Graham
