Dear Shannon,

I was wondering if you or any of the readers on the internet knew of a pastor in the Paris area who could marry my fiancee and I. We were hoping to have a garden ceremony but I don't even know if that is possible in France. I think we will actually do the civil ceremony in the U.S. b/c we cannot meet the 41 day residency requirement since both of us work in the States. But we would like to exchange our vows and wedding bans. If we can't do that then it would just be a reception and that's kind of anti-climatic. If you don't know of a pastor, would you know of any alternative? Thanks for your help.

Thao

I am french and he is american. We have been secretly married for almost two years now (but we've been living together for 3 1/2). We did not want to break our parents'heart by choising one country over the other to have a big ceremony. We are still in school and pennyless most of the time. We, as a couple, don't have any cultural problems, but It sure makes things a lot more complicated!! Does anyone know if our marriage will be recognized by the french goverment and what do I need to do?
