It's funny how my site on cross-cultural relationships strikes some as meaning cross-racial. This is not an argument that all people of all countries and all races would make a good match because love over-comes all. There is a lot more which is necessary to make a relationship work other than love. I could not begin to comprehend how people from clashing cultures would survive - but I have an open mind. I think it depends on the individuals and the opportunities avalable to them. If this were a dream worls, we would not worry so much about diluting or overcoming each others races and cultures, but rather understanding them and promoting tolerance. That's all I am trying to accomplish here.

My boyfriend is a medical student in Brazil (and is Brazilian), and I am a college student in the US - the long-distance reality is that we can meet once a year, and then only for about 2-3 weeks. We talk on the phone every week, and use the e-mail constantly...but as you can imagine, it isn't as simple as it sounds. A lot of couples are separated during college - so that isn't all that big of a crisis - but the cultural confusion IS. What seems normal for him, is abnormal for me, and what I think is normal, is totally the opposite for him!! Sometimes, our confusion is greater than our patience....but we have survived 2 years like this, and hope to let the future take care of itself. It's great to see and read that others have 'made it'!

I need advice...

I'm a Chinese muslim & my boyfriend is a Catholic, we are planning to get married but my parents are against it because he doesn't want to convert. Is there a way/hope for us?

My mum will disown me if I follow through with the marriage.
