James Michael Quigley, Jr., eldest child of Jeanne and Jim Quigley, was born in Syracuse in 1951. He attended St. Ann's Elementary School and Christian Brothers Academy High School. During elementary school and high school Jim played guitar and sang in several rock bands, including the popular Brawling Nobles (1966-1968). He graduated high school from St. Thomas Moore Prep (Connecticut) in 1969, then entered Villanova University, receiving his B.S. in business in 1973.
Jim worked for a number of Syracuse businesses throughout the 1970's, then began his own dry-cleaning business (Pressed-4-Time, Inc.) in the late-1980's, which he continues to operate today. On the side, he sings and plays guitar with his life-long friend, Jerry Berdan (Quigsy & the Bird, a re-incarnation of his 1963 folk group at St. Ann's School).
Jim was an outstanding football player at C.B.A., and continued varsity football at St. Thomas Moore. After college, he played ten seasons of semi-pro football in Syracuse, including the 1976 season as the starting offensive center for the Syracuse Bisons, an Eastern League team that finished the season undefeated and ranked number one in the U.S. semi-pro standings. He continued coaching until the late-1990's, and also managed to play a few seasons of amateur rugby with the Syracuse Harlequins R.F.C.
Jim married Loretta Galucci of New Jersey after the two had dated at Villanova. A graduate of Villanova, Loretta went on to earn her masters from Syracuse University. Jim and Loretta live today on Howlett Hill outside of Syracuse; Loretta is Director of Academic Programs for St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Syracuse. They have one son, John.
