Susan Mary Pfohl was born in Syracuse in 1948. She attended Most Holy Rosary, and graduated from Bishop Ludden High School in 1966. Sue received her A.A. degree from Maria Regina College in Syracuse, then completed a year of undergraduate work at Niagara University. Returning to Syracuse in 1970, Sue began working at the Onondaga Bank, where she met her future husband Bert.
Albert (Bert) Dorrance, Jr., was born (1947) and raised in Syracuse. He earned his B.S. from Kent State University in Ohio in 1969. Sue and Bert began family life in Liverpool. Sue left banking to begin a six-year experience in her own child-care business. Today, she owns and operates a home-cleaning business. Since leaving the banking business, Bert has been employed by UPS for over 20 years.

Sue and Bert raised three children: Albert-III (now a graduate student in chemistry at Oswego State), Daniel (now a budding guitarist), and Caitlin (a recent high school graduate from Cicero-North Syracuse). Sue and Bert reside today in Liverpool.
