William (Bill) Forman Pfohl, Sr., was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1922. He met Betty Pfohl at the swimming pool at the Belleview Country Club one day in 1938 (Betty announced to her friends that very day: "I'm gonna marry that guy!"). Bill graduated from Fayetteville-Manlius High School in 1940, then entered Syracuse University. He left college for military service in 1941. A decorated Sergeant in the U.S. Army 756th Engineers, Bill served in combat, and participated in the 1944 Normandy invasion in France. Following his discharge, he married Betty in 1947.
Bill worked for a number of Central New York companies over the years, specializing mainly in sales for Mack Truck, Inc. Sadly, he passed after a brief illness in 1976; the surviving Pfohls, Clarks, Montagues, O'Donnells, and Quigleys all cherish the memory of this very warm and loving man.
