EMO's great grand daughter Mary Montague continues to make sporting news, this time becoming the first female in Section-III history to kick an extra point in a high school football game (for Corcoran vs. Fayetteville-Manlius, 5 September 2002)!  Her varsity letter in football will go nicely with her previous varsity letters in softball, soccer, basketball, and lacrosse, as well as with her 98% cumulative class average!  Congrats, Mary!

EMO's grand daughter Marnie Quigley Kern sends along some photos of Sean Kern in cadet training for the Air Force Academy (see Marnie's story below):

Marnie & Rob Kern also sent along some recent news about the Kerns: "Sean is a Sophomore at the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO.  Sean was lucky to be one of the 900 who survived the first year, his class of 2005 started with 1,310 cadets.  Sean was busy this summer doing the mandatory survival training for 3 weeks, and then he was selected to do the coveted "Jump" program for 3 weeks where he earned his jump wings.  I don't know the other cadets in his training group (picture) but there were 15, ten were cadets and the other 5 active duty Air Force guys.  Sean is thinking about majoring in Biology, with Physics a close 2nd.  He made deans list both semesters, and also the Superintendents award 2nd semester for outstanding academics, physical fitness, and military performance.  I'm a boasting mom and very proud of his accomplishments. And, to boot he is also a really nice kid. His passion at the AFA is soccer and rugby. He started last summer with a 15 inch neck, and now is a 17...they train the cadets by doing lots of push ups!  RJ, our older son aged 24, graduated cum laude from Colgate University where he majored in Environmental Geography and Art/Art History.  He's worked for National Geographic for 2 years.  His first year in Washington, DC with the "dot com" division, and he later was promoted and moved to Denver area in the Maps division as a cartographer.  RJ's move coincided with his brothers appointment to the AFA and now they get to see each other for free weekends.  RJ closed on a condo in May in the Lakewood area.  RJ decorated his new place with his collection of art work photography, and an assortment of pods, wood, and aboriginal pieces from travels to Belize, Australia and New Zealand and it's pretty cool (and small at only 800 sq feet)!!  His apartment overlooks the concert and park area, "Red Rocks" and he's made it to quite of few concerts there.  RJ is also a graduate student working full time in the Masters degree program at the University of Colorado at Boulder in Geography.  His passions included Taekwondo (where he holds a black belt), biking, running and snowboarding.  Both boys are single and looking...when they have time between activities.  Rob and I are the proud parents...celebrating 27 years married.  We just got back from a mountain bike ride in the Oklahoma foothills. Ahhhhh, to be empty nesters.  Rob bought an empty nest puppy, a 7 pound Yorkshire Terrier named Duke...who now rules our roost."

EMO's great grand daughter Kristin Montague just completed her second season of Cooper City Optimist basketball with the cellar-dwelling but fiesty FSU team in the 12-15 Gold Division.  Kristin was the youngest player on the team, but averaged a rebound a game against much bigger players - Atta Girl!

EMO's great grandson Sean Murphy is heading out west for his baking internship after completing his course work at the Pittsburgh Culinary Institute.  Sean will be baking at the Broadmore Hotel in Colorado Springs, CO for the next two months.  That'd be the same Broadmore Hotel where EMO's daughter Mary O'Donnell claims to have had drinks with Four-Star General George S. Patton 57 years ago!  At least, that's her story, and she's sticking to it!

Back to school time!  EMO's grandson Larry Clark just sent in some pictures of EMO's great-grand daughter Martha checking in for her freshmen year at Cornell.  Margie supervised the dorm move while Larry paid the piper at the Bursar's Office!
