Part 7.  The Sale that was Delayed

When Marjorie Bertrand and Eleanor Jackson were at the busy-baby stage, they centered their activities one day on a project our brother John did not appreciate.

He had decided to sell his sedan to get a new car and he planned to show it one fall week-end. Our yellow house had just been painted and the cans of paint were left in the garage. It was Halloween Time - so, M and E were presented with a fascinating idea. Here was the shiny black background and plenty of paint, so they painted Jack-o-Lanterns laughing and Jack-o-lanterns scowling all over the sedan from top to bottom. On Saturday, when John opened the door to show his car to a purchaser, he was dumbfounded at what he saw.

"Who could have done such a trick? In the uproar, M and E appeared and immediately confessed to the vandalism. "Marjorie used a brush" said Eleanor "and I used a (s)tick!" John was not amused - and it was some time before he could get it in shape to make a sale.
