that April is already here and we are well underway in planning for a
fantastic 2004 season with the Piranhas!! This is our first Piranha

Parent Meetings/Volunteers
Thank you for attending the first of our two Parent
Meetings on Monday, March 29th. I enjoyed meeting some of
our new folks as well as becoming re-acquainted with so many familiar
faces. If you came to the meeting, you probably signed up for your
required 6 half meets of volunteer duty. Guess what? You are done until
practice begins in May!! Couldn’t make it on that night? Don’t fret –
you have another chance!! If you did not make it to the first meeting,
please plan to attend our Parent Meeting at 7:00pm on April 15th.
Yes, drop of your taxes and come on by!! We’ll be meeting at the
clubhouse located at the corner of Knightsbridge and Commonwealth . I’d
love to promise you a “drown in your tax sorrows” margarita, but you’ll
have to settle for a yet another pen to sign your John Hancock with.
This is the night to sign up for volunteer duty if you did not sign up
on the 29th of March. Piranha parents are the best – thank
you in advance for your cooperative, enthusiastic attitude that will
guarantee us a fantastic season!!
A special thanks goes to the following individuals for
going the extra mile to assume leadership positions this year: Mona
Henderson (Volunteer Coordinator), Becky Healey (Team Parent
Coordinator), Terrie Gorney and Jeanne Megna (Sponsor Co-Coordinators),
Sharon Smith (Concessions Coordinator), Shery Dollihite (Stroke Judge
Coordinator), Beth Grover (Meet Director), Dana Cart/Tammy Noe (Spirit
Co-Coordinators), Karen Scibona (Picture Coordinator), Michelle Marlatt
(T-Shirt Coordinator), and Mary Ballard (Awards Inventory).
Parent Training/Stroke Judge Clinics
Volunteers – Aren’t sure about what a team parent does?
What does a time slip runner, do, anyway? Don’t fret – we will begin
volunteer training for all positions once practice starts in May.
Fundraising
As you may or may not know, our swim team absolutely
depends on all sources of income to keep this team swimming. We count on
our sponsors, concession stand revenue, and parent donations to get all
of our bills paid and to get our coaches paid!!
New this year, the “I Love the Piranhas” fund has been
very successful. We modeled this after the “Cougar Pride” fund
instituted at Commonwealth Elementary. We have already received $
1,000. One family contributed $100 – THANK YOU so much!! It’s not too
late – just send your check made payable to Piranhas Swim Team and note
“I Love the Piranhas” in the memo section of your check. Donations can
be mailed to P. O. Box 18052, Sugar Land, TX 77496. Step up to the
challenge – we’d love to double the amount already contributed!
We love our sponsors!! Thanks, Terrie Gorney and Jeanne
Megna, for putting together a terrific sponsor packet this year. If you
or someone you know is interested in receiving a sponsor packet, email
Terrie at
terrie.gorney@usa.net.
